Microsoft Office documents
Microsoft Word documents should be set up using British "A" sizes, and not the "US Letter" American default size. To change your document to use A4, choose "page setup" from the "file" menu and select A4. You might find that some of your text and images reflow after doing this, so do check through your document before you give it to us to print.
File formats
Our officially supported file formats are listed below. If you don't see your application here, don't panic - we can normally find a workaround to print from most applications. Please feel free to contact us if in doubt.
- Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel & Powerpoint)
- Adobe PDF
- Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator (CS2 & CS editions or below)
- QuarkXPress (version 6.5 and below)
- Most image files, including TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPEG and RAW images
- Freehand MX files
Submitting files via email
If your files are less than 20MB in size, we can accept them by email. The address is inprint@bilk.ac.uk. If you know the name of the person you need to send the file to, their email address will be listed on our contact page.
Making sure your artwork is print-ready
When submitting files for print, please try to make sure that:
- All images and fonts are included with the main file
- Images are in CMYK colour mode and not RGB
- Images are high quality (300dpi) versions
If you need any help setting up your files we would be happy to help - please get in touch.
Remote printing
Remote printing is a great new service that allows you to send files to our printers directly from your PC, no matter what the time or where you are. To find out more or to arrange a demonstration, please contact Paul Singh.
